The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Thursday that they are looking for businessman Abdullahi Bashir Haske, who is the son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The anti-corruption agency released a public notice through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, signed by Dele Oyewale, who heads their Media and Publicity department. According to the announcement, the 38-year-old businessman is being sought in connection with allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
The EFCC’s declaration means that Haske is now officially considered a person of interest in what appears to be a financial crimes investigation, though specific details about the case have not been disclosed in the public notice.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdullahi Bashir Haske, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the EFCC in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering,” the notice read.
But who is Abdullahi Bashir Haske?

- Born on December 13, 1987, in Yola, Adamawa State, Haske holds a Diploma in Political Science from the University of Abuja.
- Bashir Haske is the founder and Group Managing Director of AA&R Investment Group—a conglomerate with major interests in oil and gas, aviation, agriculture, logistics, ICT, and marine services.
- From a general contractor, Haske expanded into critical sectors of the economy. His company, AA&R Investment Group, comprises numerous subsidiaries, including Etihad Oilfield Services, Mars Aviation, H&W Rice Company, Etihad Trading, and Nitro Switch Ltd. His companies are also involved in oilfield services and are pivotal to agricultural development across Adamawa and Kwara States.
- His business consortium also acquired majority stakes in former Addax Petroleum oil blocks OML 123, 124, 126, and 137.
- Haske enjoyed the backing of the former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPCL, the late Maikantu Baru, who reportedly made him the billionaire stakeholder in the oil sector. Following Baru’s demise, Haske continued to receive the support of Mele Kyari, the immediate past GMD of the NNPCL.
